Mechanical Design Engineer

I am a mechanical design engineer with 5 years of experience developing outdoor LED lighting and battery manufacturing equipment. Drawn to engineering because I like the process of creating tangible things and I also find joy in making tools and equipments more ergonomic regardless of where they are used. In my opinion improving the human-tool interaction is a very important aspect of engineering. I highly value attentive, clear communication and openness to discussing ideas during work.

  • As a mechanical design engineer, I am responsible for the end-to-end development, procurement and realization of battery manufacturing and testing equipments, working in cross functional teams.
  • Developed a three-level drawer system used for safe extraction of battery cells from testing cabinets
  • Created 9 different customized transportation trays for 4 different battery cell types
  • Designed a quick-release clamping mechanism for cylindrical cells, using injection molded plastic parts and springs. This got introduced into series production (~300 pc) cutting the cost of manufacturing by ~30% relative to the previous solution.
  • Developed an aging chamber (10-80 °C) for battery cells, in which heat loss has been reduced by 10-15%.
  • Created a laser safety enclosure for cleaning of battery cell terminals, ensuring effective containment of laser radiation
  • Coordinated prototyping and low-volume series production of 28 battery trays and 9 different testing cabinets, collaborating with suppliers, manufacturing partners and factory technicians.
  • During my work I used tolerance stack up analysis, poka yoke - mistake proofing and put significatn effort into design for manufacturing and assembly (DFA/DFM).

  • As a design engineer intern and later as a full time design engineer, I was involved in the design of outdoor and later indoor LED luminaires. I took part in projects, designing the inner structure of a specific lamps.
  • Designed metal and plastic parts to fasten electrical components inside 6 different lamp housings
  • Built over 20 sample lamps and conducted thermal tests and technical examinations
  • Designed a quick release fixation for an indoor LED panel
  • Created technical drawings and installation guides for 6 different lamp configurations
